Chrysler UConnect
Fiat Chrysler Automobile just released its newest infotainment system, the Uconnect 5 to bolster the riding experience for future Fiat vehicles. This platform includes Alexa integration, higher resolution touchscreens, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, voice recognition and a 12 month trial of SiriusXM with 360L. It’s all-new hardware, the Atlantis comes with a better processor, up to 64GB of flash memory, 6 GB of RAM and supports up to 12.3 inches and UHD resolution display.
User Experience and Personalization
UConnect 5 offers a fully customizable interface and allows up to 5 user profiles where each profile has its own preferences for music and vehicle operation. The driver’s profile can set their preferred seating position, temperature and mirror placement. This user interface mirrors the home screen of a smartphone where you can group apps together and access the home screen with one button.
Alexa Integration
Simply ask Alexa to start your car, lock and unlock the doors, and turn on your favorite playlist. You’ll be surprised what else this integration has to offer such as add items to your to-do list, check the news, weather, traffic, listen to podcasts, sports and much more. The integration is accessed through the vehicle’s audio system.
Voice Recognition
Similarly to Siri, drivers can command their vehicles to perform tasks. For example, you can say “find an available EV charging station near me.” This advanced voice system can comprehend sentences even in high background noises such as raindrop sounds. The recognition system also has a “wake up” word to initiate voice recognition instead of pushing a button.
Navigation
Uconnect 5 offers a built-in TomTom navigation system where users can search their destination by phone or voice. Unlike using mobile devices, this system allows users to continue to search and navigate using its offline data. Tom-Tom includes a destination feature to predict a user’s ETA based on current traffic and offers alternate routes as well.
Uconnect Mobile App
Users can use the Uconnect mobile app to start their engine, lock or unlock their vehicle, locate their vehicles or receive safety notifications. This app comes extremely handy in emergency situations. For example, the vehicle can automatically call for outside assistance when accidents occur. Also, the Stolen Vehicle Assistance feature helps police track your vehicle and the Family Drive Alerts feature delivers safety notifications such as concerned parents who want to see if speed limits, curfews or boundaries are broken.
