Jeep Gearing For All Electric Future
The Jeep brand is moving toward an all-electric SUV lineup in Germany, France, Belgium, Netherlands, Nordic countries, and Portugal. Jeep’s parent company Stellantis is gearing up for an all-electric future by 2025. Jeep’s new Hybrid Compass and Renegade will offer customers a new point of entry into the electrified Jeep portfolio and will arrive on the market in March 2022. Jeep’s All-Electric Future
The all-new Jeep Hybrid Compass and Renegade will join the brand’s successful plug-in-hybrid 4xe versions, like the Grand Cherokee. Making up more than 25 percent of the brand’s total sales in Europe, Jeep 4xe models are proving the demand for electric vehicles.
Antonella Bruno, head of Jeep Brand Europe, said the announcement “builds upon the success of our current 4xe plug-in-hybrid portfolio, and is another step towards the comprehensive electrification of our full product line-up in Europe…This product expansion will continue in the summer of this year with the introduction of the 4xe version of the all-new Jeep Grand Cherokee.”
Jeep’s Electric SUVs
To kick off the brand’s electric future, the Hybrid Compass, and Renegade debut an advanced hybrid system featuring a new 4-cylinder 1.5-liter turbo petrol engine capable of producing 130 horsepower. It’s coupled with a new 7-speed 7HDT300 dual-clutch automatic transmission for maximum power and performance. On the electric side, the SUVs feature a built-in 48-volt 15-kW (20-hp) electric motor that offers up to 15 percent lower consumption and CO2 emissions than the previous petrol models.
With the new hybrid technology, the Jeep Renegade and Compass e-Hybrid models offer a new alternative in the two-wheel-drive segment. Drivers will enjoy an authentic hybrid driving experience, with full-electric propulsion available at start-up, when traveling at low speeds, cruising, and in parking maneuvers from the Jeep EVs.
