Jeep is starting 2021 off with a bang by releasing the 2021 Wrangler 4xe plug-in hybrid. Combining the iconic SUV with a plug-in hybrid electric system, the Wrangler 4xe is a new breed of the Jeep SUV.
Wrangler 4xe Launch Edition
Starting at just $49,490, the 2021 Jeep Wrangler 4xe will be available in two different trims: the Sahara and the Rubicon. While the cost of the Sahara is the vehicle’s starting price, the Rubicon model will begin at $53,190. Both will be available by the first quarter of 2021. As a plug-in hybrid, the Wrangler 4xe offers customers more efficiency and sustainability, so it is an additional nearly $10,000 over gasoline-only models.

Wrangler 4xe Performance
For maximum power and great performance, the Wrangler 4xe features a turbocharged 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine along with an eight-speed automatic transmission. The 4xe’s engine can produce 375 horsepower and 470 lb.-ft. of torque. As an electric plug-in hybrid, the vehicle also features a 17.0-kWh lithium-ion-nickel-manganese-cobalt battery pack. Impressively, this battery offers up to 25 miles of electric-only range. Between this impressively powerful engine and the plug-in hybrid system, the 2021 Wrangler 4xe is the most fuel-efficient model on the roster.
With three “E Selec” settings, the Wrangler 4xe is capable of using electric only, a hybrid, or gasoline. On the electric-only mode, the vehicle will utilize the battery for up to 25 miles on a full charge. The Hybrid mode uses both gas and the electric battery, but it prioritizes battery power until it reaches a minimum state of charge to save you time and money at the gas pump. Lastly, the vehicle can be put on eSave mode, which will rely on the gasoline engine for power in order to save the vehicle’s battery energy for when you need it.
Ready to go off-road, the Wrangler 4xe features a two-speed transfer case to enable full-time four-wheel drive, solid Dana 44 axles, 10.8 inches of clearance, and the ability to traverse up to 30 inches of water. Additionally, Jeep says it can return 50 MPGe and reach 60 mph in just six seconds.
A Plug-In Hybrid with Premium Features
In the Rubicon and Sahara trims of the Wrangler, there will be additional premium features for the added cost. These include an 8.4-inch Infotainment touchscreen, an upgraded nine-speaker Alpine audio system with subwoofer and amplifier, and leather bucket seats on the Sahara model. With added unique perks, the Launch Edition will also include 20-inch wheels and LED lighting.
