Here Is What to Expect in the 2022 Jeep Grand Cherokee
Jeep fans will be delighted to know the company just released a lineup of new Jeep SUVs for 2022. Among them is one of Jeep bestsellers: the Grand Cherokee. This is also one of the best off-road vehicles on the market. As a luxury SUV, the Grand Cherokee is up for a redesign in 2022, and here is what we expect:
Grand Cherokee Interior
On the top of the list of suspected updated elements is a new Grand Cherokee concept; all signs point to the likelihood that three row Grand Cherokees will be available in 2022. This will make the seating capacity increase to up to 7 passengers. Additionally, it is probable that the cargo bay will be similarly expanded for even more storage capacity. So while you might be wondering, “How big is the Jeep Grand Cherokee?” no one can say for sure, but it is expected to increase in size at least somewhat. The new design elements may also include a new camouflage styling series that will become standard for the fifth generation of the Jeep Grand Cherokee.
In terms of technology, the 2022 model will likely include some impressive updates. One possibility is an addition of the UConnect5 Infotainment System that includes a central touchscreen with standard features like Wi-Fi connectivity, Apple CarPlay, and Android Auto.
Grand Cherokee Machinery
Given the company’s most recent moves, one can expect the 2022 Cherokee to feature a 3.6-liter V-6 hybrid-assisted turbocharged 4-cylinder engine. However, it is unclear if it will be a gasoline engine or a hybrid engine, though the company has hinted at the possibility of an all-electric Grand Cherokee. Still, the new engine is expected to generate 260-horsepower and 651 of torque, and it will almost certainly weigh much less and offer better fuel-efficiency to save you time and money at the gas tank. An older Grand Cherokee model with a V-6 engine has an EPA-rated fuel efficiency of 26 mpg highway, so the newer model that is lighter and more powerful is likely to boost this number significantly.
Additionally, it is unlikely the standard rear-wheel drive will be replaced, but a new option of a trim level with all-wheel drive may be introduced. Though they may include new features, it is expected that the Jeep Grand Cherokee model range will remain the same with Elite SRT and Trackhawk trim levels.
Launch and Pricing
Because the Detroit Auto Show was cancelled due to concerns about the COVID-19 pandemic, the vehicles’ launch will not take place in its originally planned setting. Despite this, Jeep has not announced any changes to the expected sale date, and it is expected to be announced near the end of 2021.
Although an official price listing has not been released, the cost of the fourth-generation Grand Cherokee model somewhat predicts the price range for the news model. A base model of the Grand Cherokee is likely to cost somewhere between $32,000-$35,000, while higher trim levels and packages will raise the cost from there.
